<VV> Intermittant Corvair

Well, I got it.

The problem was either the coil or the wire from the coil to the points. I replaced both and she ran 10 miles, longer than since I got her.

Now all I need to do is tune the rebuilt carbs and check the timing. She was a bit weak once warmed up, and didn't want to idle either.

Say Hallulaluha!

Hey, if we mated a Chevette with a Corvair, would that be a Corvette?

Jim, Get some peace of mind and add towing coverage on to your insurance, its cheap. Mines an extra $12 for 6 months, well worth the security. Hope you find the answer. On my 62 (which has a 63 wiring harness in it, the resistance wire started to smoke in the harness along the left engine bay harness, so I ended up removing that and wiring the system with a 12 volt coil and Pertronix II. The Flame thrower 12 volt coils kept blowing out (2 of them) , so I went down to Schucks and got a std 12 volt universal coil and the car runs great and I've put 1500 miles on it since with no problems. Don't know yet. I just got the coil from Clarks and installed it last night. The other work I planned to do this weekend. I will have to drive around the block a million times to be close to home if it fails again. I don't want to pay for a tow again.....

My 64 coupe 110 2 carb 'vair runs fine for about 5 miles, then starts to buck and kick, then it dies.
