if you are concerned enough to keep stock numbers , i would hog out that  
crankcase to put late guts in it , send heads to the guy i mentioned for  
conversion to fit late cylinders , and make it a 164 cu inch. looks stock , 
runs  MUCH better! get a late motor donor. dont forget the carbs and  
distributor.
that will make you a nice running truck.  i ran a 3:27  axle with  my 4 spd 
, before i changed it to a powerslide.
