<VV> Cat on a Corvair Re: make Corvairs less "aromatic"

"Cat" (actually catalytic) converters are designed to clean up the final  
traces of emissions from well controlled engines that already produce LOW  
emission levels.  Putting one on a relatively stock Corvair will cause it  to 
rapidly overheat and/or get clogged up.  If you're putting it on a EFI  
engine with a well controlled A/F ratio (using a wideband O2 sensor) you might  
get the cat to last much longer.
