<There's one car that escapes the usual discussion of rear-impact gasoline
fires and it's the mid-year Corvette, the ones built from 1963 to 1967.>

Nine years ago a retired defense attorney from one of the state's most
prestigious defense firms addressed a meeting of NJACE discussing his role in
defending the Corvair in a high-profile local law suit. He also touched on
his career and other GM cases he defended. He mentioned a law suit
involving just such an accident regarding the placement of the Corvette's gas
tank. If I recall correctly, the 'Vette was crossing a bridge over the
Delaware River on the way into PA when the car was rear-ended and ignited.
