Note that this car is also up for repair of the steering box which was a 
major, parallel project which laid the car up anyway, which is why I didn't 
just use duct tape and bubble gum, as some have suggested, just to be done 
with it.

How many of us have cursed previous owners for doing that, when we get stuck 
with the results ?

The park brake became an issue when I'd have to keep jacking the car up and 
down day after day (to keep nosy neighbors from griping), when I was fixing 
the starter (remember that ?) and the floor jack kept trying to roll down 
the driveway with the car on it !

Now the same deal with the steering, up and down, chocking wheels (which is 
good anyway), so while it's up for the steering, I figured the park brake 
was a quick fix.

OK, that didn't work quite as planned, did it ?

Then back to the pinging and knocking that was the original problem, before 
the front brakes, the starter, the steering box, the parking brake and who 
knows what's next ?

Otherwise this car is in great condition !
