Fair enough Smitty,

I want to know just for the sake of knowing. I myself don't have much
interest in factory stock cars, but I do like to know as much as I can
about the history and year to year changes of Corvairs. This was a topic
about which I found there was a lot of contradictory opinion, and I
resolved to do my best to learn the truth of the matter.

I don't care who upgrades to chrome, I'm the last person in the world
who will criticize someone for customizing their car to taste. What I do
care about is being able to give an answer I'm at least reasonably
confident in when someone asks the question.

Fear not, I'm pretty much finished beating this dead horse as I've now
collected enough information to feel I have an answer that is at least
reasonably accurate. If anyone has any data to ad please feel free to send
it to me off list.
