Robert Piper Resident of San Andreas
Robert Piper passed away peacefully from this world on December 31st in the
early evening. At his side were his wife and caregiver Karen, and his
beloved dogs, Alphie, Spanky and Sobie. He amazed us all and hung in there
for his 80th birthday and Christmas, and had us laughing many a time. Robert
was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 14, 1930. He enlisted in the Air
Force in 1951 for four years, and left as a flight engineer on the B-29. He
followed his childhood dreams of flying, and retired as a 747 Captain with
Pan American World Airways after 34 years. Bob and his family moved from New
York, to California, and resided in Pacifica, Saratoga, and finally retiring
to San Andreas in the gold country. Bob loved his cars! He owned quite a
few? He was a member of several Corvair clubs, and never missed a convention
or an auto swap meet. Robert is pre-deceased by his first wife Barbara, and
leaves behind his wife Karen of 43 years, children Vicki, Vance, Bobby ,
Scott and 6 grandchildren. You knew when Bob was in a room - his smile,
contagious laughter, and love of life brought joy to all who knew him. A
memorial service will be held Sunday, January 9th at 10:00 in the Chapel of
the Roses at the Oak Hill Cemetery , 300 Curtner Ave., SJ, CA 95125.
Luncheon Reception following at the San Jose Scottish Rite Center at 2455
Masonic Drive, SJ, CA.
