one of my 164 cu inch motors had a 3832517 (145 cu inch motor) bell housing
on it. i just split it last night to change the camshaft , and noticed the
outer lip of the seal was not just right. i THINK i have run these ok
before , but not sure. I packed the seal with synthetic grease @4500 miles ago
, and all traces of it are gone. i have seen seals with the grease (even
Vaseline) still kinda there after a lot longer than that.
all i have left here is 3 of the 3832517 housings.
has anyone knowingly used early bellhousings on 164cu inch motors without
issues?
otherwise i need to scare up 2 soon.
otherwise , the cam change without removing heads or any rods ,etc went
very smooth last night. i just have to finish assembling it now.
i got so wrapped up in it that i forgot to take pictures. that motor has
been waiting a month for this.
it will now be a 140pg crank against a 9891 cam with 110hp heads just to
try it out.
regards, Tim Colson
