....on Route 66!!
Yesterday a few fellow Corvair owners set out from Wichita and headed
south. We met up with a dozen of our Corvair friends from OKC at Pops
(_http://route66.com/_ (http://route66.com/) ) on Route 66. After visiting and buying
some pop, we headed down the famous highway. We stopped at the famous Rock
Cafe (_http://www.oklahomaroute66.com/preservation/rockcafe.html_
(http://www.oklahomaroute66.com/preservation/rockcafe.html) ) to meet another group
of Corvair fans from Tulsa. We had a total of 20 Corvairs, 11 LM 8 EMs and
one FC. The weather was a bit cool and windy. The Wichita cars ran great
with only a tossed fan belt. We had dinner back in the Wichita area before
heading to our monthly meeting. We racked up about 400 miles on "Drive Your
Corvair Day."

Oh, but I wasn't done yet. This morning I participated in a Porsche club
autocross with my 65 coupe with a 95/PG. The odd thing today was that I
wasn't the only air cooled 6 cylinder. Most of the time, the Porsches are the
water cooled Boxer variety. Today there was a 914/6 and a old 911. My car was
extremely slow compared to my silver car (which is still for sale:

(http://members.cox.net/1966corsa/ForSale/) ) but not the slowest car today. Yup, my 95/PG on street tires beat a
few Porsches! You can bet I won't remind my coworker PCA members of that
too often. You'd lose the bet though...

Another great Corvair weekend!
Ned
