<VV> typical idle vacuum reading?

Thanks all,

It seems I really did need to go back to basics. The compression test
showed that the entire left bank has low compression. Doing the test as my
father taught me (only four needle bounces then stop) yielded about 90psi
on the left and 125 on the right. Cranking till it maxes out shows about
150 on the right and 105 on the left.

Armed with that info I took a look and found that when I balanced the
carbs I had opened the throttle valve well over 1/16th of an inch on the
right carb, while the left carb throttle was basically completely closed.
Vacuum should be 14-18 (found it in the manual and agrees with those who
replied) at 500RPM, at 650 RPM when I managed to get it stable I was
getting only 8 or 9 inches.

I'm completely confident that there is no vacuum leak in the carbs or
crossover tube (checked it six ways from Sunday), so it's either losing
pressure out the valves or past the rings. I'm pretty sure it's going to
be blowby, if I plug the end of the PCV with my thumb it'll push oil up out
the dipstick tube in well under a minute.

I'm going to check the valve adjustment on that side and hope for a
miracle, but I guess it's time for me to finally do some genuine motor
work. I'm pretty sure the engine I recently pulled out of the 62 is in
good shape so I'm going to swap that powertrain into the 63' while I work
on fixing the 63 engine.

Thanks for all the help guys!

This isn't exactly a match, but I get about 16" on the 110 in the '66. The
> 102 had a slightly bigger cam, so if you can get 14 or 15", that's probably
