<VV> Differential nomenclature

As the former CPF Curator, I have many Corvair engineering drawings.
What the ring gear bolts to is the CASE and CASE COVER.  The cast iron
differential housing that holds the case is the CARRIER.  I also see many
people refer to the differential as the transaxle.  The transaxle is the sum
of the transmission and the differential when bolted together.  Separated
you have a transmission and a differential.  OK, class dismissed.  It's
Miller time!
