<VV> PG discussion

Hi Rick,

I'm betting your #6 Sunoco car is not a PG, right ?

As for a slow speed parade, that's not exactly "Corvair country" roads on
which the Corvair excels, except to show off a pretty car, more of a parade
float, like city traffic, where I too would prefer a PG.

Parade floats, rush hour or city traffic are the price you pay for having
the control when you need it?

Drag racers use automatics so they don't lose time shifting but they only
have to shift "up" a couple of times, and it's over.

On your Virginia hills, which are EXACTLY the kind of road just made for a
Corvair, are just better, and more fun with more gears and more control over
which gear is used?

I'm not saying a PG is impossible, and it certainly is easier to drive, but
is that your motivation for driving a Corvair? If the PG was at least a 3
speed, I wouldn't be so adamant about it, but just 2 is "2 few" IMHO.

Out of all the Corvairs and variants I have owned over the years my 67 vert
is the first and only one with a Powerglide. I purposely went looking for an

automatic because the last time I had my 69 140 four speed vert in a parade
I realized it is no fun anymore to work the damn clutch for an hour!
That is why I call my Royal Plum convertible my Dairy Queen Parade car. It
knows where all the Dairy Queens are and its nice in a parade! As for hills?

This is West Virginia after all. You are either going up or down a hill!
