 Well, it's been done by Corvair guys before, they find a nice, clean, say, 65 500 and swap the bodies with their clapped out, say, Yenko Stinger. All the serial plates get swapped over, and if no one tells DMV, who's going to cry foul?

It will be interesting to see how you would register a new body built by
some outside vendor.  Didn't Boyd Coddington get into big trouble by
building new hot rods and using some old junk yard VIN on them?  If it is a
new car it has to meet current emissions standards with computers, fuel
injection and catalytic convertors.
