<VV> Dieseling

My 55,000 mile '81 Chevy pickup will diesel like crazy if the throttle plates are open too far.  If the idle mixture is off they have to be open too far to get the right idle speed.  When everything is set correctly it doesn't diesel at all.

Right, My '69 Nova at about 98,000 would detonate on good old Sunoco 260. Pulled
heads, carbon at least 1/4" thick in corners of the combustion chamber. Carbon
stayed HOT and did increase compression!
