Hello Folks,

My apologies to Smitty as I attempt to supplant his simplified Corvair
manual transmission identification codes. Unfortunately is is somewhat
confusing, but there are many distinct transmission models used between
60-65 on both cars and FC's. There are some sub-types within these groups,
but at least all within each group are functionally the same.

66-9M4 = 66 and up 4-speed (shares some parts w/ big car Saginaw 4-speed)
66-9M3 = 66 and up 3-speed (shares some parts w/ big car Saginaw 3-speed)
   >>both 66-9M4 and 66-9M3 use the same input shaft
64-5M4 = 64-65 4-speed car (3.20:1 first gear, 14 spline input shaft)
64-5FC4 = 64-65 4-speed FC (3.65:1 first gear, 14 spline input shaft)
   >>both 64-5M4 and 64-5FC4 use the same input shaft
64-5M3 = 64-65 3-speed car & FC (14 spline input shaft)
61-3M4 = 61-3 4-speed car & FC (3.65:1 first gear, 12 spline input shaft)
61-3M3 = 61-3 3-speed car & FC (12 spline input shaft)
E61FC4 = early 61 FC 4-speed w/ 4.26:1 first gear (used w/ 3.27:1 axle)
60M3 = 60 3-speed w/ aluminum case
