<VV> Corvair trunks

A few years ago a fugitive (Bucky Phillips) was on the loose in our area.  He had killed a state trooper and wounded another.  I heard they had roadblocks in the area but I had to go to a nearby town to pick up some paint so I took my four door.  The troopers literally had roadblocks at every intersection.  I was stopped and a trooper with a serious looking automatic weapon walked around to the back of the car and said "open the trunk".  I said you want me to open it up back there?  He said "yes".  I did so and he was not happy and called me a wise guy.  They had no sense of humor in this very serious matter.  I continued on my way and was stopped five more times - I never saw so many automatic weapons.  Most of the other troopers recognized the corvair. The fugitive was a woodsman, and it took weeks before he was finally captured.
