I'd agree that the first changes in the X-pattern rotation were poorly 
received by customers AND tire installers, but certainly worthy of 
noting that Corvair, again, may have been a leader in the pack, so this 
bit of info is really quite interesting!  Good info for the day, 
obsolete for today's market, and they'll probably have a new theory 
after someone looses the next big lawsuit.

Some of the earlier radials did not roll well when their direction of 
rotation, as in the X-pattern, was reversed, often causing a "pull" to 
one side that was not corrected by proper alignment settings.
