Sorry Lon, but you are mistaken.
According to the Feb 1966 Chevrolet Service News only the  140 hp engines 
with A/C and PG used the thicker base gaskets. And that  these are copper 
flashed for IDENTIFICATION purposes. That means there are NOT  actually copper. 
Just flashed for Identification. In addition, the Parts Manuals  show that 
this thicker base gasket is used ONLY on this engine  combo.
