Toys on the Lake car show a success
By Amanda E. H. Pritchard News-Aegis Pell City — Car enthusiasts made their way to Lakeside Park Saturday as the Pell City Civitans hosted its first Toys on the Lake Car Show.

Cars of various genres were seen throughout the park.

J.L. Phillips of Pell City showed his 1955 Bel Air that he’s had for 36 years.

“When we bought this, it was just the body, no motor, transmission,
nothing,” said Phillips. “We had it stripped and started from the bottom
 up.”

Mustang lover Scottie Swain from Alpine, Alabama featured his 2003 Mustang Cobra.

Cropwell residents Rebecca and Robert Bradford showed their 1950 Desoto.

Purchased at an estate sale auction four years ago, Rebecca knew she had to have it.

“Oh my gosh honey, we’ve got to buy it,” Rebecca told her husband.

Only the second owner of this beloved classic, the Bradford’s 1950
Desoto has 49,000 actual miles, all original parts and has won awards at
 the Pinson car show.

Put on by the Pell City Civitans, all proceeds go to Pell City Toys for Children.

The club gives kudos to member Greg White and his family, who were instrumental in putting together this year’s event.

Bringing in 67 cars and 10 vendors, the Pell City Civitans raised $2,336.

Still in need of the community’s support, boxes for toy drop offs for
the club’s Toys for Children project are seen throughout Pell City.

“Monetary donations can be made at Metro Bank,” said Pell City Civitans
member Karen Bain. “Boxes are also located at Fields Gossett Realty,
Dollar General, Walmart KMart, Classic Carwash and Goin’ Postal.”

Benefitting Pell City Toys for Children, White says everyone enjoyed another day in the park for a good cause.
