<VV> HELP!! (garage lighting info) (Permitting)

When I did my 3200 square foot workshop, I did all of the electrical,
water, gas, alarm, etc. myself. I called the electric
company about installing a separate service and the rep told me it
would be very expensive because of where they would
have to bring the service from. He told me to just pull the meter
from the home service and run the workshop service off
of the unused two lugs in the box. So, that is what I did and I
haven't had any problems at all. The service runs 160 feet from
the house to the workshop.

No permits pulled for any of the services to the workshop.

If you are running a separate meter the power co may require an
inspection before they will install the meter. I went with 200 amp
separate service. I wired mine myself and passed both inspections.
