<VV> Shrouds

Aircraft engines run with no bottom shrouds at all, and they are not needed
to get proper cooling for the Corvair engine, either. The inner cylinder
baffles and side, front and back shrouds do that for you. They are
critical.
The bottom shrouds do provide protection, however, their main function is
to provide heated air to the interior of the car.

I run my corvair with bottom shrouds, however, in the summer I remove the
two screws holding the thermostats, pull the pin, and take the doors out of
each side. The engine still gets warm, the engine is protected.
And I still get a little bit of heat for spring and fall driving without
putting the doors back on. Those go on when the temps get down to the 40's
and 50's consistently.
