<VV> smog pump cars, build verification

Good point, Dan (and Steve), all these years, I never gave any thought that '66 Willow Run cars, built for delivery to California dealers, would also have had an A.I.R. And upon more thought, I don't know if all LA cars were, exclusively, built for California dealer delivery (Seth or someone else may know that); if they went to other (presumably western) states, the A.I.R. would not have been required. All cars delivered within the 1966 model year, regardless of where built had to comply with California Air Quality standards.
My 1966 Corsa 140 built in Willow Run was originally delivered to Washburn Chevrolet in Santa Barbara, California so it had to have the A.I.R. system installed.

My long-time understanding, Steve, is that all '66 LA-built cars ("L" in the VIN), less a Corsa turbo or an A/C car, had a smog pump (A.I.R.) when delivered to California dealers. My guess is that most, or nearly all, have been yanked in the last forty-seven years. As to how to visually/functionally confirm that detail, I leave it to those who are much more mechanically inclined than me.

I know that. My original question was, "How can I tell if my 66 Corsa 140 had the smog equipment?" It doesn't have it now.

All 1966 (and 1965) LA (Van Nuys)-built cars have an "L" in the VIN, sixth position.
