its been 34 years ,but as I recall our pumps were set up to dispense a half gallon of gas and price accordingly,say at 51c per half gallon. this was in 1979 at a CRYSTAL gas station in Decatur Alabama. that's how I remember it.  trey bosson  Wellsville ny   ROLL TIDE

When gas went over $.999, I owned a small country store.  Since the pumps could not be programmed to charge say $1.05, we had to double the total amount shown.  A notice to that effect was posted on each pump.  I had one employee that could not get that concept or was just careless.  It only took a couple of days and the loss of a few dollars for him to get his walking papers.
