No, just the bearing-spring-snap ring setup. The spring is what keeps the bearing in place. In my case (68 tele) the tiny bearing cage broke out (same noise) and made a "temporary" fixing (years ago) using an early bearing. Still working fine. Saludos. Daniel Monasterio
