Hi all,
I too have been struggling with this for years now as the last two conventions we went to both my wife's and mine were DNFs but the designs were appreciated ( a locomotive and a valve cover race on top of a valve cover racer). I have tried to get the weights as close to max as possible and have tried a number of wheel bearings. CDs are brittle on max weights so I'm curious where this thread goes.

K not directly Corvair related but definitely a Corvair tradition.
What are folks using for VC racer wheels?
I'm debuting my second VC car at the Roundup this weekend. Both of my cars have
sed computer hard drives for the wheels and "tires." The bearing in these
heels seem to be very load sensitive. It may be to the point that the simple
hysics of more weight equals more speed doesn't apply. I hope to get some track
ime tomorrow afternoon and will run some experiments. Our new track (purchased
rom ICE) has timing equipment.
I'm considering wheels and tires from roller skates or roller blades for the
eavier duty bearings. What other simple/easy/cost effective bearing sources are
ut there?
