It's a great example of the difference between energy density and power density. High energy density is what's desired above and beyond all else in battery technology. 
Power density is great if you're making a dragster, but won't get you across town.

anyway, hp of vehicle is kind of irrelevant - except as an indicator of 
how quickly the batteries can be drawn down.
regarding the batteries - I guess we can hope there's some truth in 
there with the snake oil...
