I'm resending an edited reply since the first 2 posts from 6 hours ago didn't seem to go thru.  

I found an old cam. Your pic looks correct. If the cable and switch are lubricated and move easily and the mechanism moves easily maybe there is a problem with the cancelling spring. It is difficult to get everything installed correctly.  It may be you either don't have that "cancelling spring" or had installed the mechanism with the black roller on the wrong side of said spring.  The canceling spring helps to return the cam to the center position.  Without it the cancelling cam's action on the 2 controll tabs may not be enough to turn the directional lights off.
