<VV> Spyder tach

As previously reported, one of the demons in the '60 that needs exercised is the one in the tach.  It now won't register beyond about 2,500 rpms. 
Does this mean the tach is toast?  Or is it something that can be fixed? 
If toast, does anyone have a good used tach for a Spyder dash?  Or maybe another whole Spyder dash even?  Everything else works in this one.
