Mike, those were my thoughts too, and I suppose as long as there is not
excessive wear its OK to drive as it is. I don't mind the extra noise these
air cooled engines make as there is no water jacket to deaden sound however
I don't think they should sound like they are coming apart! He is using
just about the best oil there is for the application, so I guess we'll see
if it stays together.
My similar engine with 270 Isky cam makes no unusual noise at all, accept
for the sewing machine sounds of the roller rockers.
