<VV> 110/140 PG/4-speed driveline swap - back story

The 110 coming out had a cracked piston that ruined the crank (started out
as a minor "miss" on what seemed like an otherwise good running engine.

So, I bought a rebuilt 140 at the GWFBT and a Saginaw transaxle.

I trust that the 140 will run, and had long range plans to test the 140 out
of the car, then mate it to the 4-speed to make my mundane 110 PG Monza into
something a bit sportier eventually.

Then came the HOA (Homeowners Association) and the Code Enforcement "cop"
compressing my timeline down to 3 weeks, which ends tomorrow.

Hence the switch to a quick 'n dirty hat trick which didn't work, since I
can't get the 140 in by morning, so off to a garage or storage where I'll
have to finish it be remote control, since it won't be in the convenient
driveway anymore.

My fault though, thinking I had time but now I don't.

I did get a lot of work done, so there's a LOT less to do now!

Plus I learned a LOT with all the tutorials from all you great guys, like I
was in a classroom ~ with a hands-on "lab"!

Plan "C" is to simply build a garage around the car, but that's a bit more
work.

Back to work in the AM to see if I can impress the cp with my progress, if
not success (yet)?

Wish me luck!
Charlie

Well, yes, of course - but then that same bell housing (after the switch to
the 140) goes back into the car which is why I said that if he is lucky
(meaning to imply - when he removes the bell housing), he will not need a
new pan gasket.

On the other hand, why not just fix the 110? This approach seems like an
awful lot of work just to let the police officer hear it run and see it
move. Has the 140 been run recently? Is it a known, good, running engine?
Or is there another disaster waiting just around the corner?

Later, JR
