If you're mother was 17, when did she give birth to you?  ;))

Well my experience with my original 62 Coupe 1966-1974 and 180K miles of
driving, the car stranded someone:
Once for a generator end bracket break
Once for a short in the generator wiring that took out the rest of the aft
harness!
Once for a camshaft gear break

Ah, that was it. Oh, I remember one time I was driving down to visit my
mother, age 17, 125 miles away. The engine started to miss under power, but
was fine at lower speeds and loads. I knew the Spark Plugs had 16,000 miles
on them and that was about all I could get out of them. So, I replaced the
plugs and she ran fine again.

However, when I bought 62 Coupe #2 in 2008, it was a regular problem car,
some because everything was so old and all of a sudden I was using it, some
because of my mistakes, also, mistakes by others.

Like the time my wife and I went into dinner 30 miles away. On the way home
the car started bucking. I pulled over and regapped the points I had just
installed 45 miles earlier. I got another 5 miles, and had to do it again.
I set them wider and finally got home. Then I noticed that the guy who had
overhauled the distributor (who otherwise did a great job with dual
bushings, new point plate, correct springs and cams, had accidently bead
blasted two sides of the point cam lobes, and it was rough enough to wear
down the phenolic on the points!

I had intended to install a Pertronix II anyway, so I slipped the
sensor over the cam and forgot about it.

The car is now reliable, so I plan to take it on trips, and gets better
mileage than any of my other cars..
