Until a few days ago my 65 Monza Convertible (110
Powerglide transmission, 64,000 miles) ran just fine.
I guess I made
her mad at me by pulling the right front wheel
and brake drum to see if I could
see what was making that brake
grab occasionally. Her response is from the
engine at the opposite end
of the car!
At half throttle and above, she seems
to behave just fine.

Sure sounds like moisture in the gasoline......... on the offending carb [ that runs better when you spray cleaner in ] remove the idle MIXTURE SCREW and blow low pressure air in... then replace / rest I/M screw...

If it was doing just the opposite, not running well at higher rpm.... then we would tell you to rev the engine and put your hand over the carb..... thereby helping to clean out the Mainjet.

Good luck!

ps the rubber gaskets on top will not hurt anything if pieces fall into carb throats. One on each side this time!!! ggg
