Seth is correct. Must be the combination of voltage plus higher amps in
those old systems because the modern systems with double the voltage allow
plugs to run past 100,000 miles with no maintenance at all.
I could have driven my last corvair 20 years with no ignition maintenance
at 2,000 miles a year. That's something to think about.
