What's a 'tf'?

I over filled a tf  on my 65 monza Started smoking out the exhaust of
course, but I poured a tf  into the carbs when I first started it after 15
years (that was a while ago). So I assume the ATF didn't harm the engine.
How is it sucked into the intake manifold?Does it the overflow ruin the
diaphragm of the tranny?
