<VV> 8 plate oil cooler side shield question

The only test I know of was done by Bob Ballew.  I have the report from 
"the Idle Mind Workshop" somewhere in my stack of reference material.  
As best as I remember, the folded fin and the 12 plate are about the 
same with the 12 plate coming out better with end plates.  The reason 
Chevy went to the plate type oil coolers was to help eliminate debris 
buildup.  It seems Corvair owners are not to keen in removing the oil 
cooler cover and cleaning out the debris on a regular basis.
