<VV> 8 plate oil cooler side shield question

A few questions...
1) Can the oil cooler be cleaned effectively with a liquid solvent, such as a non chlorinated brake cleaner?
2) What oil cooler would have been installed by the factory on the 1962 air conditioned cars?
3) Does the folded fin cooler be fitted with the end plates.
