I haven't read everyone's comments about this, so it may have been mentioned that the brake light power comes through the turn signal switch. The switch may need to have the contacts cleaned internally.

You will probably find no current is coming thru the turn signal switch but this should be verified first before replacing parts. With the proper wiring diagram.
