Paul,
Bryan's got the most complete solution--but you can also try sitting on the trunk right above the latch and bouncing to see it frees up enough to turn back and remove the key.  It's worked for me a couple of times.

Getting nearer re-installing glass in my '69 coupe.  Since I haven't found a reasonable price on an original tinted set,....yet, I need advice on brand /seller of a windshield that best matches tint color of the originals..    That is in case I DO find a set of original tinted side glasses.  Otherwise I will just have my orig. clear side glasses tinted.  Just saying I'm trying not to end up with a big color mismatch between front and side glass.

I am in Central Florida.

I bought the car new in 1966 and this has never happened before.
The key is original and has opened the trunk countless times.
The key went in normally, I turned it 90 degrees, the trunk lid did not open.
I can't return the key to vertical...it's locked in position.
I tried lubrication and used pliers. (not enough to break the key)? It goes in slightly but otherwise doesn't move.
I've jiggled everything and applied pressure in every direction possible.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I have a very very nice set of 14" two bar wire wheel hubcaps. No curb rash, absolute minimum pitting. Ready to dress up your FC. Can ship but might be pricey but can deliver to Helen meet, $200.00. Also have a pair of front white EM floor mats in original box. Box rough and does not indicate body style,$50.00 and again can deliver to Helen. Ed Dade City,Fl   ebittman at tampabay.rr.com

Hi Paul,

If you remove a headlight bucket, you can get to the back of the mechanism and grab the extension that actually opens the latch from the backside, at the very least you won?t risk breaking the key off.  Assuming you?re right handed, the left bucket is the better one to work through.
