<VV> Front Trunk Lock

I've got a '66 with a trunk lock that I can't release.  Lock turns with the key, but does not release.  I've tried pressing hard on the hood, wiggling everything I can, but no release.


I'm told that I can get access to it by removing a headlight assembly and feeling my way to the mechanism and hopefully releasing it with a screw driver.


Sound complicated.  Anyone got any other ideas?  Anyone experienced this before?
