<VV> Valve cover gasket bolt size and grade?

 I converted to using studs. A little locktite to hold the stud in. I use nuts and lock washers to get consistent torque. Best small convenient alteration I have done.

1" long usually works with the spreader bars just fine.

Grade should be at least grade 5, three hash marks.
