Are they “Gas Charged”?  Shock’s ROD would come with retainer strap.

If not they are just oil / hydraulic shocks… that have probably been laying on their SIDE  for years…

They need to be “pumped” until heavy resistance is felt.
Just jack car up… unbolt bottom and pump…. Or go for a long drive on a bumpy road!

My brother installed adjustable new Gabriel shocks (from Clarks) on his 64 Monza Convertible.  Set the Rears on Firm the Front on Medium.  The Rear still bounces, like it has worn shocks.  He had them installed by a small independent shop.  What could have gone wrong.  I have two Late Models, so I do not know Early Models as well.  Anyone have an idea what went wrong ?  He also has new Maxxis Tires 32PSI rear and 25PSI front.
