What does matter is the total distance from the rear motor mount to the 
center line of the differential.  That needs to remain the same.  Any 
difference in the bell housing would have to be made up by the differential 
housing.

I do not know a definitive answer and so I, like you, will wait for
someone more knowledgeable to weigh in.  However,  manual and PG use
different front supports, so any difference in the depth of the
bellhousing would be accommodated by the different supports.
