Subject: <VV> Erratic Tachometer

I have a 65 140 4 speed with a tachometer that jumps around when cruising at
a steady speed. Can jump as much as 1000 RPM. Other times it will be steady.
What could be the possible problem that I should look into? Many thanks for
any help! John Gull in unsteady Asheville NC
