<VV> Hood and trunk lettering

The plot thickens! The build year is 09E. I didn't include that because 
I didn't know it was there - so thanks for telling me about it. But when 
I went out with a flashlight to look at it, I found that I could see the 
impressions of the letters in the paint where the 'Corvair' letters had 
been, both front and back. I find it highly improbably that somebody 
would have filled in the holes and yet left these impressions visible. 
And there is absolutely no sign of any filling either on top or 
underneath. Aside from being improbable, it is a heck of a lot of work 
to little purpose, to do the job properly.
Did any of these cars have stick-on letters?
