<VV> Clutch rod 64 Spyder 4 speed.

Somehow I never paid attention to the orientation of the clutch rod. Although the Assembly Manual says to orient it with the paint mark on top, the actual Service manuals and supplements (as far as I have been able to find) make no mention of orientation. I have never seen any paint marks on my old clutch rods to make me wonder.
In any event, if you look at Figure 6B-12 in the 1961 Shop Manual, it shows the rod exiting the clutch housing then dropping downward in a gentle S-bend, so maybe that will help.

I have rebuilt my motor and transmission and am in the process of putting
them back in the car.

During the restoration I painted the 540mm (1 foot 9 inch) rod that connects
to the end of the clutch fork and has an adjusting block on the other end.

The rod has a slight bend an inch or 2 from the hole that connects to the
clutch fork so that the rod projects slightly up or down depending which way
the rod is installed.

The manuals say "paint mark must be on top of rod when assembled". But I
unknowingly painted over the mark .

I suspect the travel of the rod would be up as it goes away from the clutch
fork. I wonder if somebody could confirm.

I'll add a paint mark when I do assembly. Thanks.
