To all,A local guy has joined the Corvair fraternity - 63 Greenbrier. He was having drivability issues; at tip-in the engine would fall flat on it's face.? He's replaced the carbs, plugs, and wires - all from Clark's.? The van had a Pertronics looking unit; but it does not have full 12 volts (I don't know offhand whether its a I or II).? It started easily and ran smoothly.
Today we replaced the leaking balance tube hoses and the the base of the leaking fuel pump.? Went through the carb initial set-up and balancing.
Timing (steel pulley) was very advanced (guessing 25? BTDC); reset to 13? BTDC. Engine now much harder to start; so reset to about 20?BTDC.
While driving, it still has the same tip-in issue.? I don't think it's the carbs (because it's acting the same way it did with the old carbs).
I'm unsure how to proceed - anybody have any recommendations? Thanks,Andy K.Wisconsin
