Did you remove the carb to carb connection of the throttle shaft, and  adjust 
each of the primary carbs independently - as far as idle speed is  concerned. 
If you do not disconnect the cross shaft, one carb's idle screw can  affect 
the others throttle. Disconnect, adjust the idle, then hook up the fixed  
connection (right side as I remember) then adjust the left side to just  
"slide-in". Make sure you have no vacuum advance at idle. -  Seth
