I am by no means an engine expert and therefore this may sound
like a really silly question to the more knowledgeable, however,
could this wear have possibley been caused by the assembler failing to
torque the case halves together snuggly and then forget to use the
large rubber hammer to assure proper alignment between halves
BEFORE torquing the studs to full torque specifications? Could this
oversight result in a significant misalignment between case halves and
cause a wear factor of this magnitude?
