And why else would you put it up?  Oh, yeah, below 45 degrees (distant
memory).
I leave mine down all summer, and unless it's raining in the winter.  Yes,
it is very hard to get latched the first time it goes up, especially if it's
cold.  I've been known to use a wood carpenter's clamp to pull it close
enough to latch the first time.
