On some subconscious level, I think this car may be the reason why my track
car is an early coupe. As a yoot I saw pictures of it and read about it,
and I saw pictures of and read about early Fitch Sprints. While in 1965 I
became aware of the late Sprints, too, I missed seeing anything on the
Yenko Stingers when they were new and racing. I did not learn of the
existence of Stingers until I joined CORSA in 1974. When I discovered them
I thought (and still do) that Stingers were cool, but I think that it was
too late -- the "early" seed had been planted.

20-ish years ago Ed Connolly had the Roe car in his garage here in New
Jersey, where I first got to see it in person. Even though the car was
apart at the time, it was unmistakably "that car" and I felt the same as if
I were meeting a celebrity.
